The newly appointed Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Lebanon, H.E. Maria Emerica Cortese, conducted an in-depth visit to various Order operations across the country. During this first visit, she fully immersed herself in the project by visiting our community healthcare centers in Khaldieh and Kefraya, where she had the opportunity to observe firsthand the impact of the programs implemented for vulnerable populations. Ambassador Cortese focused on the three core pillars of our work: healthcare, social care, and our agro-humanitarian program, each playing a critical role in supporting communities in need.
She had the chance to meet with the dedicated local teams who work tirelessly to provide essential healthcare services, social integration programs, as well as sustainable solutions for food security and resilience. By visiting our mobile medical units, she was able to grasp the scale of the challenges related to access to care in remote areas and the ongoing efforts to extend our coverage and improve services.
Furthermore, the Ambassador met with key partners of the Order, such as the Imam El Sadr Foundation, with whom we work closely to provide essential services to the most vulnerable populations. She also engaged in productive discussions with members of the Lebanese government and political leaders, further strengthening institutional ties and paving the way for new collaborations to support the impact of our programs.
Her visit underscored the Sovereign Order of Malta’s unwavering commitment to solidarity, dignity, and resilience for the Lebanese people, and highlighted the importance of cooperation between local and international stakeholders to meet the growing needs of the country.
