On June 17, 2025, the Order of Malta’s Ambassador, Maria Emerica Cortese, paid a courtesy call on the Mufti of Beirut, an eminent religious and legal figure representing the Sunni Muslim community.

The Ambassador recalled that the Order of Malta, which promotes inter-religious dialogue and supports people in need, regardless of race or religion, has been cooperating for many years with the Sunni organization Dar El Fatwa in the health sector.

Maria Emerica Cortese underlined the importance of this activity at this delicate time for the Middle East region.

Both agreed that the election of a new President of the Republic and the appointment of a new government are a sign of hope that leads to increased aid to ensure a better future for Lebanon.
